Cycling has become a massive sport in the UK, especially with the success of British cycling, Sir Bradley Wiggins, Chris Froome and now Lizzie Armitage winning the world road title!
This success means more and more people will take up cycling and as part of their winter and spring training, they will without any doubts head to the likes of Spain, Italy and France for a bit of training in the sunshine.
No, we don't mean the atcual physical challenge or the training but more of, how do you squeeze the time to go and stick within the budget, if you have a family? Cycling as we all know is addictive and getting the right balance can be a challenge, especially if you have a family.
Tenerife boasts the highest mountain in Spain at a magnificent height of 3,700 metres. Bradley Wiggins put his mark on this island in 2012 as he prepared his body and mind for his dual win, the Tour and Olympics. You can reach as far as 2,350 metres on your bike, then if you want to reach the top, then it’s a cable car, I’m afraid. Once at the top, there is plenty to take in, including the red volcanic rocks and famous Parador hotel, where team sky made their home for their altitude training.
