Ride Itinerary & Useful Info
All our rides will be in the morning and you should get back early afternoon just after lunch time. This gives plenty of time to spend with the family as part of your beach & bike holiday.
Relax around the hotel pool, visit the beach and many attractions around the resort of Caleta de Fuste and of course the rest of the island. This is your time and you decide what you want to do for the week, but if you would like some help on what to do, excursions or places to visit, we are here to help.
Take a look below at our fantastic family focused accommodation based in the beautiful restort of Caleta de Fuste.
Most of our beach & bike customers tend to ride 3 of our island tours. This way it still leaves plenty of time to spend with the family whist being on holiday. As always, we like to remain as flexible as possible, so we are running 5 x tours per week. So, no matter which day you arrive on the island, you can join in any one of our unique daily rides. Please see three sample tours below.
Novice to experienced riders are welcome. Our tours cover every corner of the island and include the Betancuria Loop which includes climbs as long as 10 km but the gradients are quite gentle at an average of 4.5%. We have tours that head up to the top of the island and back along the amazing and beautiful Fuertentura coastline, with its famous white sand dunes.
The best thing about our beach & bike package is that you ride 3 x tours but get to keep the bike all week, this way you can explore the island more if you wish or even top up the guided rides if required.
Route 1 - Betancuria Loop
81km - 1100m Altitude
Heading out from our seaside town we’ll head into the centre of the island to Antigua before turning south to take advantage of the tail winds.
Soon we’ll arrive in the small town of Tuineje where we will tackle the first climb of the day. We won’t stop at the top but instead enjoy a gentle descent down to Pajara; a very traditional village where we will stop for a coffee in one of the many characterful cafes. Next up is our 2nd climb of the day and one of our favourite on the island, a gradual 6km climb, where we can enjoy spectacular views across the to the west coast.
Before we climb our last mountain of the day, we will pass through the town of Betancuria, which use to be the old capital of the island. At the top of the last climb of the day, there are a couple of statues of the kings who lived in Betancuria, and on a clear day you can see from this view point across to Lanzarote.
From here we’ll descent back to Antigua and from here we will retrace our route back to Caleta de Fuste.
Route 2 - Gran Tarajal Loop
85km - 850m Altitude
We’ll follow the coast for the first couple of kilometers of today’s ride before heading inland at the Salinas Del Carmen salt museum.
Taking some quieter roads, we’ll head back to Tuineje again, before taking more secondary roads south, on which we expect to see very few cars. We’ll stop in Gran Tarajal for a coffee and enjoy a cafe stop by the beach before heading back north to Caleta.
Route 3 - East to West coast and back
88km - 1200m Altitude
On today’s ride we’ll cross the island from our hotel on the west coast of the island, over to the rugged east coast, where we’ll see dramatic coastal cliffs and big waves before heading back to the calmer waters of the west coast.
Heading again inland to Tuineje, we will cross over the mountain range that runs down the centre of the island and drop down to the coastal village of Ajuy.
Here we’ll stop at one of the cafes, giving us the chance to watch the big waves crashing on the quiet beach. We’ll retrace our route back the same way we came to complete this coast-to-coast ride.
